The opening of the B20 in Rio de Janeiro this week has set the tone to examine the attributes and opportunities for Brasil, but more importantly the entire South American continent. Perhaps it can play a important role in the much needed reality check for the whole of the America’s.
Professor Guillermo Pivetta pictured with B20 Chair Dan Ioschpe attended the event – that involved presentations and speeches from the G20 Sherpa, Mayor of Rio, and Vice President of Brasil, regional bank presidents among many others. The event provided an introduction of task force chairs who will take the B20 working themes forward for make recommendations to the G20 leaders Summit in November.
A keynote address from Ian Bremmer of the Eurasia group set the stage outlining the risks and challenges, also presenting a positive picture for Brasil and the region due to demographics, energy, food and other advantages, that could see effective collaboration grow in 2024. Thanks to the Confederation of Industries leadership through Ricardo Alban and many excellent speakers the pathway forward has started.
